David Sanborn:
„What’s great about these horns: They are so responsive and there is so much flexibility with the horns. You have such an ability to express a wide dynamic range on these instruments – which in my experience has never happened with any other instrument I played…I am always comparing them to the SELMER. Every time I play another horn and I come back to my SELMER it’s like being home.”

Brandford Marsalis:
“I’ve played a lot of other horns – They just don’t have that sound. The SELMER sound is indescribable. Actually it’s the most beautiful sound that there is in a saxophone.”

Benny Golson:
“I played it and my whole live changed. The sound was easy to get, pretty and smooth. When I picked up the new horn it was like an old friend…The Reference 36 was the best I ever played.”

Jerry Bergonzi:
“The thing that strikes me first is that it has a lot of presence – it’s immediate, it’s present. It’s a natural sound, it has not too much lows, too much highs, it’s very well balanced…It feels like a Rolls Royce compared to driving a truck, you know.”

Steve Coleman:
“What I liked most was the metal – the way it vibrated, It just rang better. I felt like the horn was vibrating more with me. It made me feel better.”
